Prayer Request: Praying Through Scripture
The Navigators are big believers in praying through Scripture, because it fills our hearts and minds with God’s perspective and purposes, helping us transcend our own, more self-focused ones. An example from John 15:5 would be “Lord, we pray that they may remain deeply in you, and you in them, that they may bear much fruit.”
Please pray these Scriptures for our disciplemakers to transform New York City through life-to-life discipleship!
Deep Communion with Jesus - Pray we deep abide in Jesus and are daily gripped by the gospel. John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
A Huge Spiritual Family – Pray we would be fruitful and multiply spiritually, that we would make disciples who make disciples who make disciples, on and on to reach all nations! Genesis 1:28 - God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth…”
Renewing Ruined Cities – Pray we would raise up fruit that will last, that will go on to rebuild ruined cities. Isaiah 61:3b-4 – “They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.”
God to Call and Send Workers Here – Pray God sends many to join our team as disciplemaking workers in his harvest among the 22 million people in the NYC Metro Area. Pray for the financial provision for those who long to labor with us. Matthew 9:36-38 – “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’”
Shalom for the City – That we would bring wholeness to the many ways our city is broken. Jeremiah 29:7 – “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Reaching All Nations – Pray for the 200+ nations represented in NYC, that we would effectively reach all the nations through the spiritual generations of disciplemakers God will raise up through us. Revelation 7:9-10 – “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb…..And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’”
