First Annual Disciplemakers Intensive Retreat
Our fourth wave of leaders is about to complete their nine-month learning journey in the NYC Disciplemakers Intensive (DMI). Over the weekend of March 20th, we gathered for our First Annual DMI Retreat. Our focus was to equip these disciplemakers with a powerful discipleship tool: identifying and displacing our Core Lies with the gospel.
Core Lies are false beliefs about God, ourselves, or others that we believe as the result of wounding events or environments, often in childhood. These Core Lies hold us back from living fully and freely and engaging in evangelism and discipleship in our local contexts. City Director Peter Trautmann spent the weekend teaching and sharing from the Scriptures from his own life and delivering life-changing content on the topic.
The 32 retreat attendees are diverse leaders of all ages and backgrounds from most of our missions, including filmmakers, NYPD officers, software engineers, and employees of NYC housing developments. Our learning community has been growing in our Navigator motto to "know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same."
The content proved transformative, and we will be making it part of our annual DMI journey and open it up to others in our disciplemaking community city-wide.
Here are a few takeaways from our community:
"Amazing, life-changing, beautiful experience."
"The retreat was transformational! Deliverance, self-realization, and healing!"
"There's hope for me as I replace the core lies that I believed."
"I experienced God’s love, conviction, revelation and power!"
"A brilliant opportunity to look inward and ask questions that have needed asking. Such an impactful blessing this retreat was!"
Please keep praying for this group as they continue to process their core lies and experience freedom in Christ.
